 Chuck Missler Genesis 1

“The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed; the Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed.” - St. Augustine

It's like a movie with a plot twist. In the first half (Old Testament), you get hints and clues about what’s going to happen. Not fully understanding them fully at the time. In the second half (New Testament), the twist is revealed, and you suddenly see how all those earlier clues fit together.

The Old Testament has many prophecies about a coming Messiah. The New Testament reveals that Jesus is the Messiah those prophecies were talking about.  Example: The story of the Passover lamb in the Old Testament is a symbol. In the New Testament, Jesus is called the “Lamb of God,” showing that the Passover lamb was a symbol of Jesus’ sacrifice.

Have you ever paused to consider the staggering irony of the crucifixion? The people who nailed Jesus Christ to the cross, mocking Him as a public spectacle, were created beings—fashioned by the very Creator they were crucifying. It’s true! Humanity, formed by the hands of God, put to death the One who gave them life. Jesus, the eternal Word through whom all things were made (John 1:3), was betrayed and killed by those He came to save.

Here are quick summaries of the 66 books of the Bible:

When we read the Bible literally, we interpret it naturally, recognizing its diverse genres: Psalms as poetry, parables as allegorical stories, and historical accounts as factual records. Trusting the Bible as 100% accurate doesn’t require abandoning reason. It is God’s divine Word, the ultimate authority for life’s decisions, and substantial evidence supports this claim:

Historical Accuracy: Archaeological discoveries confirm nearly 25,000 Old Testament sites, people, or events. Sir William Ramsay, initially skeptical, sought to disprove Luke’s Acts but concluded Luke’s historical accuracy was remarkable. Ramsay also verified that all 13 of Paul’s epistles were authentically his.

Diverse Yet Unified: The Bible, written by 40 authors across three languages, 20 occupations, 10 countries, and 1,500 years, includes 2,930 characters and 1,551 places, as noted by author Terry Hall. Despite this diversity, its message remains consistent. The Bible is candid, recounting flaws like Moses’ murder, not just heroic deeds, reflecting its honesty and unity across cultures.

Jesus’ Endorsement: Jesus called the Old Testament “Scripture” and affirmed its divine inspiration. In Matthew 22:31, He said, “Have you not read what was spoken to you by God?” Was Jesus mistaken, or was He affirming the truth of God’s Word?

Fulfilled Prophecy: God’s standard for true prophets is 100% accuracy (Deuteronomy 18:22). The Bible meets this standard. Isaiah named King Cyrus 150 years before his birth (Isaiah 44:28). Over 300 Old Testament prophecies about Jesus—His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18), birthplace in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1), healing ministry (Isaiah 35:5–6; Matthew 11:5), suffering (Isaiah 50:6; Mark 14:65), crucifixion with sinners (Isaiah 53:12; Mark 15:27), burial with the rich (Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57–60), resurrection (Psalm 16:10; Mark 16:6), ascension (Psalm 68:18; Mark 16:19), and exaltation (Psalm 110:1; 1 Peter 3:22)—were fulfilled in the New Testament. God’s ability to predict the future validates His Word for the present and future.

Textual Reliability: Scribes meticulously copied Scriptures, destroying any copy with a single error. The Dead Sea Scrolls, dated over 200 years before Christ, confirm that modern Bible texts remain virtually unchanged. The Bible has thousands more manuscript copies than works by Caesar, Aristotle, or Plato, which are widely accepted as authentic. If their writings are trusted, the Bible’s reliability is even more compelling. Textual Criticism

Divine Inspiration: The Bible claims to be God’s Word. 2 Timothy 3:16 states, “All Scripture is God-breathed.” 2 Peter 1:20–21 clarifies, “No prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation… but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” The phrase “Thus says the Lord” appears nearly 3,000 times. Either the Bible is a collection of fables, or it is entirely true—there is no middle ground.

Jesus’ Identity and Authority: Jesus claimed to be God incarnate, the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), the bread of life, the light of the world, the good shepherd, the true vine, and the resurrection and the life. He forgave sins, healed without medicine, fed thousands from a boy’s lunch, calmed storms, and rose from the dead, fulfilling His own predictions. His crucifixion stemmed from His claim to divinity. As King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus’ resurrection validates His authority.

Conclusion: The Bible’s historical accuracy, fulfilled prophecies, textual reliability, and divine claims provide overwhelming evidence of its truth. A simple rule: trust someone who rises from the dead. Jesus did. Follow Him.

Some Scholars say the Torah wasn't written by Moses.

However, Moses did write Genesis.  The proof is in the text.

John 5:45-47, Do not think that I [am the One who] will accuse you before the Father. There [already] is one who accuses you: Moses, [the very one] in whom you have placed your hope [for salvation]. 46 For if you believed and relied on [the Scriptures written by] Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me [personally]. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

John 5:39, "You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me"
